Jambo!

Jambo everyone! If you love Disney and fashion, you’ve come to the right place because these are two things that I’ve been passionate about for as long as I can remember. I hope to provide you with inspiration to incorporate a love for Disney into your every day apparel and park attire, as well as throw some tips and suggestions your way to plan an unforgettable trip to Disney World (or at least hold you over until you can get back there!). This year I have really started to follow the community of small shops that are devoted to Disney apparel, accessories, and home goods and I have been blown away by the creativity and quality they provide. One of the first shops I started following is The Main Street Press. They have some of the most creative shirts around and after some brief communication on social media I can tell that they are 100% committed to their customers as well.

I had been eying up this Jambo tee for a while and finally grabbed one last month just in time for my December 15th trip to Disney. I was really excited to wear it because it was my first ever stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! If you haven’t stayed at this resort yet, you are missing out. I knew I had to stay here during the holiday season after dining at Boma last December. Walking into the lobby and seeing the tree in the dimly lit atmosphere was truly a sight to behold.

Although we did not book a Savannah view room, I was surprised to walk out onto our balcony and within our first few minutes there, two giraffes made their way over to the alcove our room was facing. After that we saw a lot of ostriches, Ankole Cattle, and a Marbou Stork that didn’t want to leave! I’m sure if we had spent more time in the room we would have seen even more.

Although it would be just as relaxing to hang out on your balcony at Animal Kingdom Lodge, there were so many activities that we couldn’t rationalize almost any downtime. (Okay, there WAS a two year old in our travel party so a little bit of downtime was necessary.) One of the coolest things to do was the night vision animal viewing at the Uzima Overlook. It was neat to see the animals from a whole new perspective at night- and contrary to what I thought there was actually a lot of activity at that time of night. I probably couldn’t manage to see and do everything AKL has to offer- even over a few trips- but I know I will be back to give it a try!

While in Disney, I paired my Jambo tee with light washed jeans and a chunky open front sweater for dinner at Boma (yes, a sweater! It was chilly!) But, even my lightweight sweater is no match for the New Jersey winter. So once back home, I decided to pair my Jambo tee with a heavier jacket and some vintage pants. Don’t let the pictures fool you, I was STILL freezing (it was only 22 degrees!) and definitely still wishing I was in sunny & warm Orlando, Florida!
